Carrying an object while climbing the stairs

6 years old CP patient with left hemiplegia.

1. Patient was asked to take a hoop, carry it up the stairs, thread it through a pole and step down to take another hoop. Carrying an item with both hands is an everyday function worth practicing, where the patient's upper extremities cannot assist his movement and balance.

2. Holding the object prevents patient's left hand from forming a muscle tone pattern due to the effort, and requires his lower extremities and core to work much harder to maintain balance. He is moving his right leg as fast as he can to reduce the effort on his weak left leg.

A special thanks to the "Ha'gan Ha'shikumi" and their amazing staff, for sharing their knowledge, thoughts and experience.
