Changing the base of support

Patient’s description: 54 years old patient with ataxia as a result of a brain tumor surgery.

1. The patient was asked to stand with one foot on a higher stair and move it from side to side without using the handrails. This requires the patient to perform an accurate movement, while maintaining balance on a single leg.

2. At first, the patient drags her foot, and is instructed by the PT not to.

3. The patient performs the exercise fast - due to her difficulty in controlling her movement, and in order to shorten the time she stands on one leg. SHOW LESS
